Which Apple Watch Bands Fit Series 11, SE 3 & Ultra 3?
Got a new Apple Watch on the way? The first question most people ask is whether their old bands will still fit. The good news is that Apple Watch band compatibility is pretty simple once you know which "family" your watch belongs to. After that, swapping bands takes about five seconds.
Here's a straightforward rundown on Apple Watch Series 11 band compatibility, plus where the new SE 3 and Ultra 3 fit in.
The short answer
Apple has used just two band sizes across every Apple Watch since 2015. Every band ever made falls into one of two groups, and every watch takes one of those two groups:
- Small family: fits the 38mm, 40mm, 41mm and new 42mm cases
- Large family: fits the old 42mm, 44mm, 45mm, 46mm and 49mm cases
So if a band fitted your old 40mm or 41mm watch, it will fit the new 42mm Series 11. If it fitted a 44mm or 45mm, it will fit the 46mm Series 11 and the Ultra 3.
Apple Watch Series 11 band compatibility
The Series 11 comes in two sizes, 42mm and 46mm. These are the same case dimensions and band connectors as the Series 10, so any band that fitted a Series 10 will fit a Series 11, and most older bands cross over too.

One thing to watch with "42mm"
The new Series 11 42mm is the smaller watch. The original Series 1/2/3 42mm was the larger watch and used a different connector. So an old Series 3 42mm band won't fit your new 42mm Series 11, but any band labelled for 38/40/41/42mm will. When in doubt, go by the family, not the number.
Apple Watch SE 3 band compatibility
The SE 3 keeps the familiar 40mm and 44mm sizes:
- 40mm SE 3: takes small-family bands (38/40/41/42mm)
- 44mm SE 3: takes large-family bands (42/44/45/46/49mm)
Apple Watch Ultra 3 band compatibility
The Ultra 3 stays at the rugged 49mm size and sits firmly in the large family. It shares the same connector geometry as the 44mm, 45mm and 46mm cases, so:
- Bands made for the Ultra (49mm) fit the 46mm Series 11 and 44mm SE 3
- Your 44mm and 45mm bands will fit the Ultra 3 too
Just remember that lighter dress bands can look a bit small against the Ultra's big case. For that watch we'd lean towards chunkier sport and active styles that suit its rugged build.
